87/100 coffee lift
I'm posting a series about printmaking on Six Sentences and this - a post- first stage etch before the removal of the hard ground - is one of the images I shall include in today's (yet-to-be written) post.
This was done during a course at Handprint Studio, then in York now in Cornwall.

86/100 Here comes summer, 1912
Calderdale, in 1912, on what was a traditional family outing
(The Easter outings had just as many hats but coats as well)
My grandmother, Dora Sutcliffe, is second from right.

85/100 NZ road trip
A multiple pile up of a series of photos taken through the windscreen as we drove
from Cromwell to Haast in New Zealand, in 2007
- triggered by Pia Eeeva Maria Parkkonen's no.50.

83/100 Orkney rust
Before the Churchill barriers were built in Orkney, between the southernmost islands, a number of vessels - 'blockships' - were deliberately sunk to prevent U-boats sailing through and attacking the naval fleet which lay in Scapa Flow (as one did in 1939 to sink the 'Royal Oak')
This is the hulk of one which was several hundred yards off shore in 1981, was well-broken up by 2002 (when this was taken, and is now nowhere to be seen.

79/100 Further puzzling
Steve Veilleux' 'Puzzling' reminded me of a photo taken of the river Severn from Lydney.
I just went from there ... and finished up somewhere unexpected.

78/100 Six pears
Immediately reminded of this (as well as of Rod Stewart) byPia Eeva Maria Parkkonen's 'Morning sun' post yesterday (but I can't think what to sing along to this!)

Three years ago ...
January 2010 - not so picturesue today, less snow and no blue sky.
And this cherry tree is no more - got diseased and had to go.

The blacksmith's wife #37, revised
Having received a proof copy of the book just before Christmas, I had to alter many of the images because they were too dark. One or two I was unhappy with , including #37.
Yesterday I spent several hours trying - and failing - to come up with something which better expressed the double entendre lust. This morning all was achieved within twenty minutes.

66/100 Jenna and Eddie 1
Another series of print experiments, taking advantage of Photoshop's
ability to improve the duds. These prints were all made from two inch
collagraph plates, in the hope of using them to illustrate my first
ever fictional story. Thirteen are inked in shades of brown, a further
dozen in blue and orange, but my aim is to simply play around until I find an attactive combination.

Odd that this has finished up looking (to me) like a birch forest
- there are few trees in Orkney nowadays

60/100 Six runes (1)
Six individual plates, each depicting a semi-imaginary rune
from the Neolithic tomb of Maeshowe, in Orkney.
For the next few days I'm taking advantage of Photoshop to experiment with
layers and colours to bring up new images.

59/100 New Year begins at home
An amalgam of my three favourite rooms in my house -
bedroom, office and back sitting room
a good place to begin 2013 from.
